One of Olaf Matschernus’s key areas of expertise is compliance, with a particular focus on anti money laundering (AML) prevention in both the financial and non financial sectors. He advises entities subject to the German Anti Money Laundering Act (Geldwäschegesetz), including in his capacity as an outsourced/external Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO), on the design, review and further development of AML frameworks as well as on the implementation of regulatory requirements at both national and European level.
In addition, Olaf Matschernus has many years of experience in both judicial and extrajudicial proceedings. In this context, he advises banks, issuers, fund and leasing companies in the financial services sector and is particularly involved where the strategic enforcement or defence of claims is required.
Another focus of his practice is contract drafting and contract advisory services. Olaf Matschernus advises companies on the structuring, review and negotiation of contracts and supports them in identifying legal risks at an early stage and mitigating them sustainably.
